Story behind the name
John Dastin or 'magister Johannes Anglicus' as he was known when he worked in Avignon, was originally an English alchemist from the 14th century. Not much is known about the man. What we do know is that he corresponded with Pope John XXII. In his letters he advocates the practice of alchemy, arguing that it corrects nature.
